Formula one cars are already great in their own right. They are all built with speed and efficiency in mind. However, among all the F1 cars that have raced in the circuit, there is a handful that can be truly called the all-time greatest. We are going to talk about seven of them right now.
McLaren MP4/2 (1984-86)
What’s impressive about this car is that it will be the only one in this list used for only a single season. The reason why it is so great is that Niki Lauda drove it in 1984. And yes, this was the car he drove to win the 1984 title. You will be more impressed to know that with its short-lived life it won the Driver’s Championship from 1984 to 1986. Well, that is quite a feat.
Benetton B195 Formula One (1995)
One could argue that any car driven by Michael Schumacher to win any of his championships should be here. However, if you are going to narrow down the list, the Benetton B195 should be on the top. It won 11 out of the 17 races in the 1995 championships. It also performed extremely well when Schumacher engaged with a nail-biting battle with Damon Hill to win the title.
Formula One (2001)
Not all cars made by Ferrari for the Formula One championships were great. There were several duds. On the other hand, there were really great ones too like the Ferrari F2001. It won 9 of the 20 races in 2001 championships when the competition was pretty tough. This was also used by Schumacher to win two races in the 2002 season.
Brawn BGP 001 Formula One (2009)
Not all cars made by Ferrari for the Formula One championships were great. There were several duds. P is actually a guise caused by a rebrand when Honda left the sport. Amidst the issues that revolved around this car on the 2009 race, Jenson Button still won the World Championship with it that year.
Red Bull RB7 (2011)
This was the car used by Sebastian Vettel when he won two consecutive titles. He was also driving this car when he became the youngest F1 race driver to win double championships. And because of that, the Red Bull RB7 has a lot of history and all they are great.
Mercedes F1 W07 Hybrid (2016)
Well, for starters, this car is the second most dominant car in the sport’s history. So it should be on this list. It also made some history by being the first Mercedes to use fully integrated power units. One of the greatest feats of its car is when it won the 2006 championship. In that year it won 19 of the 21 races and managed to finish on the podium 33 times.
McLaren MP4/4 (1988)
We have saved the best for last. The McLaren MP4/4 is the most dominant car in the history of Formula One. This was the car used by Ayton Senna to make history. During the 1988 season, Senna won 15 out of the 16 races that year. Aside from that, it also got 199 points in the Constructor’s Championship. This was pretty impressive because that score was 3 times higher than the next best team.
